A little bit of what you love

I hope that you have spent some of the weekend doing the things that you love or that make you smile. Work can be very busy and demanding so when we get time to ourselves we should ensure we make the most of it.

It is easy to become weighed down with the domestic chores or the work that needs to be done at home. We can end up doing jobs all weekend without ever giving ourselves the time to fill our hearts with the joy of a hobby or interest that we love. There is balance in all things so after working all week perhaps we should give ourselves a bit more time to rest.

I have spent a huge amount of time this weekend with my horse and then carrying out almost five hours of dressage judging. It was quite exhausting but with the sun finally making an appearance it was something that made me smile, laugh and above all relax. It is the first weekend in a long time that I have been able to do this. I did feel a little bit guilty that I have done minimal work but then it is my time off.

This weekend has reminded me how important it is to make time for the things that you love and that when you are involved in can lift your spirits. Being able to boost your mood helps improve your well-being and put you in a good place for the week ahead. And as I have said many times with the working environment being increasingly busy and stressful we need to be looking after ourselves and our mental well-being.

If you spent this weekend cleaning, tidying, doing chores and possibly doing some work perhaps you should reassess and ensure that you are making time for your interests. With the long Easter weekend nearly upon us it gives you an opportunity to reset the balance.
